1. Don't start a project with a deadline in mind. Figure out the project requirements, then determine how long it will take you to accomplish them.
2. Update your budget projection at regular intervals. So many things happen during a long project that you will be lucky to stay on target during a particular year, let alone the life of the project. Frequently revisiting your numbers will help minimize troublesome surprises.
3. ERP isn't about the software. It's easy to put a new system in place. The hard part is changing the business processes of the people who will use the system.
4. Nobody likes process change, particularly when they don't know it's coming. Include in the planning the people whose processes you are changing. Keep the communication lines open while the project is in the works, and measure the level of acceptance before, during and after the rollout.
5. Remember the integration points. It isn't enough to simply install new systems; you need to make sure that they can talk to each other.

SAP calls for business sustainability in region
You can only sustainably strong as a company if you are sustainably robust in handling the three elements - your impact on the planet in which we live, the impact on the people with whom we work and the impact on the profits we are supposed to generate," Duarte told delegates at the event.
While Duarte admitted there are sceptics to the relevance of sustainability here in the Middle East, he believes that the time has come to acknowledge it.
"I do believe that in the future it (sustainability) is going to be very relevant for every business regardless of where it is based," Duarte added.
Sergio Maccotta, managing director at SAP MENA revealed that the Middle East is growing much faster than other markets, with two companies joining the SAP ecosystem every single week over the last nine months.SAP Forum 2009 is themed under the title - See Your Way Clear: Strategies for Success in the New Reality - and focuses on how SAP can bring transparency to business operations. 1,700 delegates are said to have registered for the two-day event which kicked off today.
"The markets here are growing much faster than the rest of the world, and SAP here is growing even faster - in the last nine months, we grew five times faster than what the analysts were predicting," Maccotta stated in his keynote address.
The company now has more than 700 customers in the Middle East alone, with small to medium-sized organisations representing 40% of that figure.

تتفاوض شركة نيوز كورب التي يملكها إمبراطور الإعلام روبرت مردوخ مع المياردير السعودي الأمير الوليد بن طلال لشراء حصة تبلغ 20% من محطات روتانا ميديا وروتانا نت تحديدا روتانا دوت نت ، وفقا لصحيفة وول ستريت جورنال.
ومن المتوقع وفقا للصحيفة أن يعلن عن العرض الرسمي هذا الشهر دون تقديم أي معلومات عن السعر

وتستضيف روتانا أقنية فوكس في السعودية عبر شبكتها التلفزيونية وتمتلك حقوق أكثر من 2000 فيلم عربي ومكتبة موسيقية ضخمة.

الجزيرة تعتزم إطلاق أول قناة إخبارية رياضية في الشرق الأوسط
تستعد "الجزيرة الرياضية" لإطلاق أول قناة إخبارية رياضية ناطقة باللغة العربية في الشرق الأوسط.
وأفادت صحيفة "إماريتس بزنس" أن القناة الجديدة التي تبث برامجها على مدار الساعة ستعرض أخبار رياضية خاصة فضلاً عن برامج حوارية وأخبار عن الفعاليات الرياضية الكبرى.
وذكر مدير قسم الأخبار، محمد عمور للصحيفة "يكمن الهدف من القناة الجديدة التي تتحدث باللغة العربية في إبلاغ المشاهدين وتثقيفهم حول ما يحدث في عالم الرياضة ورفدهم بتغطية شاملة لأهم الأحداث العالمية".
"وستمثل القناة مصدراً للأخبار الرياضية وليس للأخبار المعتادة. مما لاشك فيه أننا نعد مصدراً للعديد من القصص الإخبارية الحصرية، ولكن عدد الأخبار الحصرية سيزداد عند انطلاق القناة الجديدة".
وتملك القناة حقوق حصرية لنقل فعاليات رياضية مهمة مثل دوري أبطال أوربا والدوري الأسباني والدوري الإيطالي والدوري الفرنسي ومباريات الرابطة الوطنية لكرة السلة.
وقال عمور للصحيفة "كانت الجزيرة تخطط لهذا المشروع منذ وقت طويل ولكن تنفيذه يحتاج إلى وقت. وتم إجراء دراسة جدوى بالإضافة إلى دراسة هندسية، فليس من السهل إطلاق قناة تلفزيونية.
وأضاف "ستعطى الأولوية في نشرات الأخبار للمباريات التي نمتلك حق حصري بنقلها ولكن هذا لا يعني إهمال المباريات الأخرى لأنها ستحصل هي أيضاً على حصتها من التغطية.
"وسنتعامل مع الفعاليات بطريقة مهنية وموضوعية. ولدينا اتفاقيات مع قنوات بريطانية لرفدنا بمقابلات وتقارير وأخبار".

"ياهو" تستحوذ على "مكتوب" في صفقة لم تعلن تفاصيلها المالية
أعلنت شركة ياهو الأمريكية التي تعد واحدة من كبرى شركات المحتوى على الإنترنت في العالم أنها ستستحوذ على شركة "مكتوب" الأردنية ولكن لم يتم تقديم أي تفاصيل مالية حول الصفقة.
ولكن بعض المواقع التقنيه قالت ان الصفقه قد وصلت ل 100 مليون دولار امريكي
وتعد هذه الصفقة أول صفقة هامة في قطاع الإنترنت العربي من قبل شركة أجنبية، وكانت قد سرت شائعات منذ عدة أشهر بأن ياهو ربما تكون مستعدة لشراء مكتوب التي تعتبر أكبر موقع للمحتوى العربي على الإنترنت.
وقال مسؤول بشركة مكتوب إن الاتفاق لا يشمل كلاً من "سوق. كوم" و"عربي. كوم" و"كاش يو" التابعين لمكتوب، حيث سيتم الاحتفاظ بهم، وسيتم إنشاء شركة جديدة تم تسميتها "جبار" لإدارتها
وقال رئيس قطاع الأسواق الناشئة في ياهو أن استكمال الصفقة سيتم خلال الربع الرابع من العام الحالي على أن يكتمل دمج المحتوى خلال الربع الثاني من عام 2010، حيث سيتم تحت الاسم التجاري
"yahoo middle east".
هذا وتبين من خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عقد في دبي اليوم من قبل الشركتين أن السيد "سامح طوقان" مؤسس مكتوب سيتخارج من مكتوب نتيجة لهذه الصفقة وسيكون مستشارا لياهو، كما سيتفرغ لإدارة "جبار" التي ستركز على التجارة الإلكترونية
